The artist has been exhibiting publicly since 1978. Her work has been accepted in to group exhibitions in NYC and upstate NY, as well as the New England states and Canada. Melindria's most recent solo exhibition was with the Galerie Restigouche Gallery in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada. It was a retrospective, entitled, "From New York to New Brunswick". One hundred and ten paintings and drawings were chosen for the show, representing thirty-five years of her work.
Melindria draws her inspiration from her surroundings. The urban settings and rural landscapes which have touched her life are often the subject of her art. While living in Tribeca in NYC, she was inspired by the vitality and diversity of the architectural structures of her neighborhood. They became an integral part of her creative process. More recently, the land and seascapes of Maine, Québec, and the Maritime and Atlantic Provinces of Canada have defined her art.
Melindria's creative expression ranges from realism to the abstract. The artist's preferred media are watercolor, dry and oil pastel, colored pencil, India Ink and graphite. The medium, and cotton paper surface chosen by her for a work of art are based on Melindria's emotional intent.
